Privacy Policy

Short version: Mashi does not collect, transmit, or sell anything you type. There is no account, no analytics, and no advertising. Everything the keyboard learns stays on your device, and you can erase it at any time.

What we collect

Nothing. Mashi has no servers that receive your data.

How this is enforced, not just promised

Android: the app declares no INTERNET permission. It is technically incapable of sending your typing anywhere. You can verify this yourself in the app's manifest.
iOS: the keyboard runs with Full Access turned off, and declares RequestsOpenAccess = false. Without Full Access, iOS prevents a keyboard extension from making network requests at all.

Learning, and when it pauses

When you tap a suggestion, Mashi remembers that choice for that spelling so it ranks higher next time. It also counts which word tends to follow which, to offer a next word. Both are stored locally and are never uploaded.

Learning pauses automatically in sensitive fields:

password fields, and any field marked "no personalised learning";
numeric, phone, email and URL fields — one-time codes, card numbers and usernames never enter the dictionary;
fields with both autocorrect and spell checking disabled, which are typically credentials or identifiers.

When learning is paused the keyboard shows a ◉ marker next to the mode name, so you can see it rather than take our word for it.

Deleting what it has learned

Android: open the Mashi app → Your words → Review or erase. This shows every stored pair and erases both the dictionary and next-word counts.
iOS: because Full Access is off, the app cannot reach the keyboard's storage, so the control lives in the keyboard itself — press and hold the "learned" label in the suggestion bar.
Uninstalling the app removes all of it.

Children

Mashi is safe for all ages. It collects nothing, so there is nothing to collect from a child either.

Paid features

The core keyboard is free with no advertising. If optional paid features are added later they will live in the companion app, never in the typing path, and any that require a network connection will be clearly labelled, opt-in, and disabled by default. This policy will be updated before any such feature ships.

Changes

If this policy changes, the date at the top changes with it. Material changes will be announced in the app before they take effect.
