Private beta

Malayalam, naturally.

Type the way you speak. Mashi turns Manglish into Malayalam, keeps your English words English, and learns your spellings — all on your phone, with no internet permission at all.

Why it is different

It handles spellings it has never seen

Manglish is ambiguous — l can be ല or ള, d can be ദ, ട or ഡ. Rather than guess once, Mashi generates every plausible reading and picks the one that is a real Malayalam word.

66%

of never-before-seen spellings resolve correctly on the first try, measured on 25,872 held-out romanizations — up from 26% for a single-guess transliterator.

Private because it cannot phone home

On Android the app declares no internet permission. On iPhone it runs with Full Access off. This is a property of the build, not a promise in a policy.

Mix Malayalam and English freely

Words like office and meeting stay English without switching modes, and every conversion is one tap away from being undone.

Built for real thumbs

Number row, long-press alternates, slide the spacebar to move the cursor, swipe backspace to delete a word, adjustable height, and dark mode.

Free, with no ads

The whole typing experience is free. No advertising, no typing limits, and no upgrade prompts while you type.

Status

This is a private beta. Mashi is being tested with a small group of Malayalam speakers across regions and age groups before any public release. The Malayalam word list is deliberately small and reviewed — it grows from tester corrections rather than scraped text. If you would like to help test it, get in touch.
